Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Larkim and G, I did find it funny later in the show when Tom was accusing Martin of being deliberately provocative (when talking about the women’s race at London and male pacemakers) when that’s exactly what he does a lot of the time! :-) I still listen to the poodcast as there are bits I find useful/interesting, but it does sometimes annoy me!

Would early October be any good G? Chester is supposed to be a good one (can’t confirm as haven’t done it myself).

Thanks jenny. I did Chester last year. Lovely event. But I'm trying to get into Boston 2019 and I think the qualifying period is Oct 17 - Sep 18. My 3:11 from Chester 2017 might actually be good enough, but I just fancied having an "insurance" marathon before end of Sep in case I needed to go e.g. 3:09! :-) G

Ah, I see! Well, good luck with the qualifying, hopefully the 3:11 will be good enough, but having a back up sounds a good idea.

Quick google search of autumn flat marathons throws up Hull on 24 Sep, don’t know anything about it though.

Cool. Thanks. Yes, I saw a Hull one in Fetch database - they called it the "Hornsea trail marathon"? Is that the one?

Oh, didn’t see that one in the Fetch database but think it’s something different - the Hull mara is late September, the Hornsea one appears to be early September.

Richmond marathon is in September, round Kew Gardens and along the Thames so sound very flat. Not done it myself but heard good opinions from others who have.

I have AL, but it was so long ago (2005) that I think the route may have changed a fair bit.

My one tip would be to be prepared for the fact it may be not the nicest of weather (I stupidly wasn’t prepared for driving rain in Ireland in late October ;-))
