+1 to proper loose fitting shorts and vest in bed (when necessary - usually on a sleepover in the van) If someone has a good source - please post! |

@TheScribbler Noctu’s Cara shorts work for me. Good quality cotton but not too thick. I was having a browse earlier on their site as all the midnight and midnight stripe are 25% off. They’re also doing women’s boxers with thinner fabric but they look like the ‘too close for comfort’ shape for me. |

Finally got round to complaining about the talk. This is what I said: I’m writing, sadly, to express my disquiet at the Mindset and Menopause talk, delivered by . I found it worrying for a few reasons: • I think it’s unhelpful to frame menopause as something we can tackle through ‘mindset’. Obviously there are strategies that can help us face menopause and survive it, but just being grateful for things is not going to help someone who is really struggling with mental or physical symptoms. Particularly in the workplace, I think there is a tendency to push the issue back onto women, when actually the employer needs to take responsibility for doing more than paying lip service to reasonable adjustments for women at this time. This approach reinforces the idea that menopause is something we should all be able to get through without causing a fuss, just by having the right attitude. • The other thing that I found concerning was the total lack of any evidence for her claims, e.g. we are more stressed than previous generations of women/we no longer have to do cardiovascular exercise/ear-pulling/we absorb more information in a month than our predecessors did in a lifetime. As an academic institution, I think it’s important that our guests speak from an empirical evidence base. • Lastly, much of what she had to say came from her own experience. I don’t think that’s a valid base to talk to a workplace group. Some personal experience might be useful to connect with the audience, but I would have preferred medical and social evidence-based advice. I know that you are doing your best with probably limited time and resources, but I would request that future speakers have some sort of qualification, and that they are told that the expectation is that they will provide evidence for their claims and advice. |

Thank you. I feel a bit guilty because I'm sure the organisers booked her in good faith, but really it's not good enough.

Linds, they won't improve if you don't twll them and your feedback is very constructive. I really like the bit about not putting burden back on women.
