Right Sharkie, but you're already healthy, educated and probably from a working background that had enough income. So you're already healthier before you walk into a gallery or museum?

Yeah sure, but I just wanted a chance to shout about the brilliance of Arts for All!
We weren't poor (just ordinary working class) but Mum placed great importance in going to the theatre as a treat. Art and art galleries were also part of my childhood. So although we only had a car for a short part of my childhood, a rackety old black and white telly and no foreign hols we were brought up to think the arts were for everyone.
It's back to Manchester again and its rich cultural life: its orchestra, its theatres, art galleries, the WEA...

And I am completely in agreement of the value of arts and culture and support the concept of wider access for all and greater inclusivity generally. I just get a bit surprised / sceptical of the "live 10 years longer when you visit a museum" type findings. Anyhoooooo!
Taking down the Christmas decs over the weekend counts as resting, even though I was up and down the loft ladder like it was a hill reps session, because it's a weight off my mind! G

I'm wondering whether we'll be able to "prescribe" tickets to the Workington Reds' home matches or the greyhound racing. Arguably a great deal more socially and culturally relevant than "prescribing" parkrun.

I've had a much easier weekend than I'd have chosen. Weather, work, and a general preference for the sofa got in the way. But I'm not really here because I'm not training for anything, and I'll do some running this morning.

My understanding is that the SW of the country is way ahead in this area, and a fairly sizeable research study has taken place. One of my colleagues has met the relevant academic. It is in large part about combating social isolation and in that sense any activity counts, but partnerships need to be in place to meet costs if there are any.

Morning all - interesting that so much of the benefit from cultural activities is the social interaction. On that basis a few things that I do at the moment but hadn't really considered cultural might count.
3 days running for me starting today, after a rest day on Sunday and non-running day yesterday. I made a special effort with my sleep hygiene last night: no snacking after dinner, no screens after 9.30, a warm shower before bed. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling rested and alert for the first time since going back to work after Christmas
