Non running day - but have done half an hour of yoga. Aiming at some strength work later and will probably log some walking. I only log walks that are designed that way - not random bits here and there!

I never think to log walking, even though I do quite a lot of it! I’m disproportionately pleased to have ‘won’ the league table of people wanting to run 900 miles in 2019

I only log my walks for WSW purposes, but I do then also seek out different routes between places to get extra squares.
My opponent this week has just gone into the lead by 18, and I've had to stop myself trying to work out if it's possible to pull it back before the end of the match. I don't have a run in my training plan today, so I'm going to stick to that.

Love Lettuce
I had to turn off Fetchpoint and WSW - they were messing with my head. I like Conquercise because it encourages me to vary my routes and visit new places. But I'm lucky to live in an area with not many Fetchies so I don't have the stress of zones regularly changing hands.

The walking I log is either training/conditioning or something that might influence my training and therefore ought to be recorded. In my last year at work, doing and recording 20-30 minute walks on work days (the recording MATTERED, it was like putting a star on a star chart) kept my head in a "training" mindset when I might otherwise have gone, "Fuck it, the desk and the biscuit tin might as well have my soul" like I did for a chunk of the year before and vowed I'd never do again.

Rest day today. I'm on holiday, so it has involved a lie in, brunch at home and a sea swim with some colleagues. Here's the brunch: porridge with fresh pear and a spoonful of my Mum's homemade jam, a pot of tea and a double espresso.
The sea was 11 degrees and swimming in cold water has the effect of making me nap like a boss so I'm to off to bed for an hour

V-rap - if logging walking is important to your mental well being ...then log away! I'll never argue with that.
What I'm wondering today and have just blogged about is this: How much walking tips over into effort territory?

Beanie and my coach friend Steve have both raised eyebrows at my idea of a not-doing-anything-day. Only yesterday Beanie suggested that carting heavy bags of shopping up and down the hills of Hastings or books-food-shoes across the London transport system does not constitute a proper rest day.
They have a point. But I DO think I can get away with a 4 mile or shorter dog walk at Jess pace. Jess pace averages 24 min miling. Some miles are as long as 30 minutes, 18 -19 would be quick. 17 gets into questionable territory round here, because of the hills.
I 'think' my normal, easy walking pace is around 17 on the flat. Quite a bit slower than in my youth (in heels).

Way back early last year, when I was marathon training and still under the illusion that I had retired, my monthly walking mileage was down in the teens so it would appear that I'm capable of prioritising actual training over just notching up "exercise" when I've got a goal to work towards. The walking only took off after my spring target events were ticked off and my knee started playing up. Walking's all well and good, but given the choice I'd much rather go for a run.
