I was hoping not to have the date on here. It's public knowledge I know but would have preferred people to have to make q conscious decision to find it. Never mind.
Please can I refer you back to my previous post if you're thinking of coming? It really does feel that a single complaint from a disgruntled local may be enough to get us shut down. Maybe I'm paranoid, I don't know, but I am quite twitchy. Do consider giving us a few weeks to bed in before visiting. Thanks.

Hi HB, I do hope people listen to you, but I found out at our inaugural that no matter how many polite requests you put out, there are the inaugural chasers who turn up because they can even though they are not local. Hopefully there aren’t too many of them.

Good news is apart from the hard core hopefully most others will heed the requests.

Good lunch with the launch and keep repeating the 'give us a few weeks' message whenever you see the launch mentioned on FB/Twitter etc.

Locals councils seriously need to "man up" a little -it's not like parkrun takes over 24/7 - 365 days of the year - It's approx 2 hours once a week for goodness sake... Local councils grow some and get behind local parkrun and the good to the community and health benefits... It make me very angry to hear this attitude towards the best thing that has EVER happened in sports / exercise / fitness....

Kevchenko - the land in question has numerous other purposes - multiple football pitches, gaelic football & american football. There's a nature reserve and grazing cattle in some areas. It's used as a campsite for the folk festival. It's surrounded by roads which are at a standstill with vehicle traffic seven days a week and most certainly will be at 9am on a Saturday.

I think the council has overall been pretty supportive, but they have to look after the interests of many other parties and be sure that adding one more event into the mix is going to work. It's really important in particular that there aren't lots of people *driving* to this parkrun.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
