Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

I'd like to echo what HB and Cerrertonia have said. It's not as if people won't be made welcome at our inaugural but please, please, please don't drive there. The park and ride on Newmarket Road is an easy 20 minute run for most people and that would be a decent warm up. We've been in touch with the managers at the Tesco and Sainsbury branches near the common and they seem relaxed about parking there especially if you nip in for a box of corn flakes or something afterwards.

The last thing we want is to alienate the people living nearby who are the ones we most want to come and run with us on Saturday mornings. They aren't going to do that if they see the roads they live on getting clogged by people driving to the common to go for a run. What they will do instead is complain to the council who will rightly take their views into account when deciding whether to allow the parkrun to continue.

HB, Cerrertonia, Rich L - You totally misunderstand sorry - my rant is now aimed at Coldhams Common or the local Cambridge Council specifically - but is a GENERAL nationwide moan - I am sick and tired of hearing about how we have to tread on eggshells all the time - so what if a few residents with nothing better to do then complain do so... These local councils should not weaken or buckle - that is my point

" Lucky parkrun isn't at 2 - 3 pm on a Saturday"

I've forgotten what a 3pm Saturday kick off time is like

I did for 33 years, then they went up - it is all very odd now - but can still get a parkrun in pre kick off most weekends

According to my ambassador all the documentation is in place pending them transferring it from dropbox to HQ and we should shortly be getting a start date...

Its my last RD stint at my current parkrun on Saturday too, timed that reasonably well

Intriguing blindcider, this parkrun of which you speak sounds like it could be withing striking distance for me one of these days. :-)

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
