Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It may just mean that you're accustomed to that level of work from SPR, Pix. Which is fine. It looked like a worthwhile session on paper.

Thanks
I will keep the same this week - the last 2-3 reps needed concentration
then look at progression as I haven't done much lately

I need to think about lower body work at home as I don't have gym access - something to research when not working LOL

I wondered the same the last time I did any upper body work Pix - I felt as though I was working to my limits but had hardly any DOMS the next day (based on 3 sets of 8-10 reps).

DOMS is not a marker of exercise effectiveness.

at least I am not alone SK! I did 3 sets of 10

I accidentally increased some by using different weights to last time without realising (and wondering why they seemed heavy!) but that then shows that if I could almost double the weight and still do the reps is it my perception of what I can do that is wrong or was it just my "easing back into it" weight was too low?

Strange how we don't like DOMs but want them?!

cathrobinson this is the current registration body for PTs in the U.K.

You may well be able to find someone in your area to help…only if you need help. I thought they may be pushy, one of the things that raised a flag for me about that was where they say they only employ 1% of applicants. You’ve got to have an awful lot of income which means an awful lot of clients to have the time to assess & reject 99% of applicants.

Sharkie as an aside to your point about there maybe not enough time to see any differences for Sally Kate - many of the before and after progress photos you see on PT websites are taken on the same day a few hours apart. I appreciate you’re making a different point though.

sallykategoing back a few pages about Turkish Get Ups, you maybe able to do them even if you are weak on one side. The way I was initially taught them was “naked” get ups with a group of friends (not as risqué as it sounds)which just means going through the lift without any weight, holding all the positions for a couple of seconds.
The second stage was doing them with a soft shoe balanced on an open palm throughout the lift. The potential humiliation of being hit in the face by your own shoe in front of friends made it quite intense.
The third stage was the same as stage 2 but with a plastic cup of water. The pressure & intensity of that variation was VERY real. 😀

Thanks Musashi ! I can't get up from a kneeling position using my left leg, so I need to increase glute strength on that side in order to complete the move.

That third variation would definitely get you focusing on technique :-)

At the gym I used to go to the trainer told us she'd had to do TGUs with a KB of 25% of her bodyweight to qualify.

... a weights wire for women.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
