Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I did my first CrossFit class last night (they made me do 4 PT sessions first). Unlike Love Lettuce, the 400 and 800m runs practically finished me off. Did get some lovely endorphins though. And they seem friendly. And their car park is tiny so I can leave the dog in the car and be able to see him (don’t laugh. What the dog is doing is extremely important in deciding where and when I can exercise.)

Next one Friday (unless work gets in the way of my life again).

No comment on the hotness of the instructors Maz - you're obviously far less shallow than me ;-)

I still can't quite justify the cost of joining the local crossfit box up here, but have decided I'm going to join the local weightlifting/strongman gym my PT now works from!

My training has taken a change to being more strongwoman-based, with the view to having a go at competing at some point. Lots of new movements and weird toys - regular sessions with PT have included learning how to lift atlas stones (so far I've managed the 50kg stone), and learning how to log press (got a new PB of 3 reps at 41kg last week). This all means I've had a range of new bruises - mainly on my chin from not getting my head out of the log's way :D

Last powerlifting competition didn't go to plan at all, and left me with a bit of a lost love of it and feeling like all those months of great training had been wasted for want of it not coming together on the day - we'll see what the next few months bring!

I have bitten off a rather large chunk to chew - I've entered a Strongwoman competition! And not just a little novice one, but Scotlands Strongest Woman 2020!!! To say I am bricking it would be an understatement, but I got a bit of fomo on seeing a FB post about the lack of entrants in the u82kg category and it being 7 months away...

I will try to do a regular blog to track training etc!

Wonderful! I'll also be watching for your blogs with interest :-) Will you consult a coach/trainer or design your own training?

First little blog is up - the real training will begin after my holiday!

I've been working with my PT for around 2 years now and he is a keen strongman - he's been trying to get me to have a go for a while and I've finally relented! :) I've joined the gym he now works from and they have a load of strongman kit, as well as just having had a big refurb of new kit.

... a weights wire for women.

And in case you're wondering about that title, well, I like alliteration and one can be too po-faced about the use of girl/lady/woman.
