Yes, you can dye wool with Kool Aid- I've done it a few times as a summer activity with LMG and her friends- I got the dyes and wool from here dtcrafts.co.uk I believe you can also buy Kool-aid from Ebay. It's really easy, just mix as for the drink without the added sugar then apply to the yarn. We used old drinks bottles to squirt the colours onto the wool out in the garden. It's non-toxic as it's a drink, so the kids come to no harm, although after seeing what it does to a ball of wool, I wouldn't want to consume it! We found the reds and purples worked best, the yellows and greens tend to come out after washing the garments made. They do smell loely with the flavours of the drinks. You use a microwave or pan on the stove to fix it before hanging on the line to dry. |

I'm reminded of a comment that an acquaintance of mine came out with when a friend said she was interested in vegetable dyes. "Why would you want to dye a vegetable?" The same acquaintance asked me whether the reason that we didn't have a washing machine in my family until I was 16 (and even then it was only a twin tub) was for "ecological" reasons. No, love, we were just poor, or old-fashioned, or both. She was a very good runner though but said that she didn't see the point in running if she couldn't average until 6.30mm.... |

Great site, Girlie! I love some of the procion dye colours, and quite fancy starting by dip-dyeing some of the slightly rough natural-coloured silk yarn I bought recently. It was so cheap that it's not too much of a disaster if I make a mess of it. |

I've never tried using those dyes, but would like to have a go at some point. If you look on her gallery, you'll find a couple of my mobius pieces on there. I remember telling her about them and she asked for photos of them to include on the site. |

AND I still have Laughing Yaffle open in another window. I keep nearly hitting "spend", then think about how I'll feel when I open the package and confetti drifts out

Hi V-rap - yes I have indeed done some felting, some deliberate and some accidental lol. I knitted my skull and crossbones pirate handbag then felted it in the washing machine, honestly I was so nervous while it was going round and round, in case it came out doll sized or something! it's going well with the frog prince (only one bit of frogging done so far!) back and front done, and most of the head, so I'll be on legs and feet tomorrow. |

You will feel all excited and fluffy at the beauty and colour of the yarn! I'm waiting until the end of the month to buy another skein and to get my free one:-) Continuing with Angee Socks shortly. |

Is the Laughing Yaffle wool better than Araucania Ranco Multy, which can be found at £4.99 for 100g? Not that I need *any* more yarn! I'm looking forward to trying some of the sock patterns on The Loopy Ewe website. |

They are both Cat Bordhi patterns- they have a strange cast on using a really long circular needle (100cm) they both feature a Mobius twist which gives the shape and the twist in the handle of the bag and the scarf. Her first sock book is fab and how I learnt to knit socks. Fraggle- that happened to me a while back- I iknitted a lovely bag, put it through the washer at too high a temperature so it ended up bear sized! It felted correctly, but a bit too much, next one will be done at 60 deg not 95! |
