Which sock yarns aren't, er, as soft as other sock yarns, Spinkle?

I've got some Fortissima which isn't too pleasant. I've also got some cheapy King Cole stuff which is soft. The softest sock yarn I have ever used is Malabrigo Sock. Not cheap at £12.99 for 100g though.

I have to confess that this is all talk - I haven't knitted a sock since I was a student, or a sock-like object since my kids were in bootees :)

Looking forward to giving it another whirl, though :)

And I've just frogged the first three inches of my cotton/linen place-mat. It needs to be smaller so that I can get two out of my 100g, and more densely woven so that it does the job it's meant to do.

Maybe it's a message that I should put it aside and get on with some serious purple knitting ;)

I wear them as slippers around the house. Slippers stink after a while - well mine do :-0

My mother gets recurrent cellulitis on her ankles and hand knitted socks are the only thing she can stand to wear.

Once you get the pattern sorted in your head they easily become 'no brain' knitting.

Hi knitters, have been reading your thread, very impressed that all you runners have time to make so many things! I've given up making garments, but I enjoy doing small projects like socks, hats and gloves, of which I now have loads!!

Pics please! [Drools in anticipation.] ;)

I'm a Ravelry-porn addict these days.

Take 2 with the placemat is much better. I dropped the needle size from 3.75mm to 3.25mm (it's DK yarn, but I'm a very relaxed knitter and always end up on smaller needles), reduced the number of stitches by 20, and it no longer looks like an old string vest. Still smells like one, though ;)

Been doing some quilting last night and tonight. Such a lovely way to de-stress. :-)

You all make me want to learn how to knit. May ask my mom when I see her in December to teach me a little. :-)
