It should be fine, JEB. The first one I made is 13cm to that point, and that fits eL Bee!, who has an average man-sized head.

I was going to do a braided hat with a doubled-over brim, but by the time I'd finished the acres of brim the yarn was clamouring for some simple stranded colourwork. I'm glad I listened to it.

Alice the Camel bought me “teach yourself to crochet” book and a selection of hooks for Christmas. I’ve just learnt how to do Double Crochet. The bottom 2 rows went wrong because I had to turn the page of the book to find out I needed to do a chain stitch at the start of a new row 😆

That's looking good, GM. A lot further than I got. A kind person from here equipped me for learning to crochet a few years ago, but I couldn't get my head round it and ended up knitting with the yarn.

All these lovely hat pics got me inspired, so I gave in to the siren call of the beautiful new Unbelieava-wool yarn I got for Christmas and cast this baby on as I finished work yesterday.

It was so pleasing and easy to knit that I'd finished it by the time we went to bed (well, I need to darn in ends and make tassels).

This doesn't do the colours in the wool justice, they're really much richer and deeper, and I don't know if you can see the sparkley threads (the colourway is called winter Berry, iirc)

Love that, Raemondo :) Lots more super patterns on that blog that will show off variegated yarns, of which I have far too many.
