Great idea for a thread. We lived abroad for a while, Christmas wasn’t even a holiday. We got to like it after a while, but the first year felt a bit sad and strange and that’s how it will be for a lot of people. We’ll have FiL over (probably staying for a few days), a nice meal and the decorations up. A quiet celebration. Hope I’ll be able to see my mother at some point but not sure how that will work. Maybe New Year as per normal but it’s hard to plan. Try to find a race or two but they may all be off. Any excuse to fill the freezer with lots of good food, and I expect we’ll get through a few gallons of wine too. |

Brilliant idea for a thread. I think this year could be the year of handmade/upcycled presents and now I’m thinking of putting a time in the diary for a special family zoom call.

Businesses are already starting Christmas John Lewis opened the Christmas shop today People are being encouraged to spread the shopping starting now 😮 as it’s expected to be an online Christmas with sales up 30-50% for online shopping Given the current situation I hope people don’t spend so much this year and spend money they don’t have |

Good idea for a thread. One upside is an extra few days off work - most of my office are using up days not taken during lockdown. If you've not seen these before, I'd recommend these as good ways of keeping the younger ones occupied for a couple of hours whilst on a walk: treasuretrails.co.uk Think I might be using one or two of these around my local towns - we've done a few on trips away and city breaks but not local ones. |

We are building our Christmas Shop this week. It'll be smaller compared to recent years as its expected more people will online shop 😔

Think my Mum is going to my sister so it will be a very simple Christmas. No parkrun will be weird.

I have been wondering how effective charades via zoom/Teams would be? It could be hilariously terrible. Ditto pictionary via virtual whiteboard. |
