A Rae in a manger
January has begun. Joyuary will start when (if) this bloody rain ever stops…. But I’m busy house clearing, by the end of the month I’ll have handed my notice in from part time job and will have a full retirement date and will be living in the Cotswolds. Joy indeed by the end of the month 😃

Anticipation of future joy sort of counts, I guess 😁

Sounds like a lot to get on with in the meanwhile. House clearing can be tough, bit hopefully there's some joyful memories to uncover amongst the junk.

A Rae in a manger
Yesterday started with the migraine from hell and I missed the gloriously sunny day. I got my moment of joy on the evening dog walk. It was a clear, crisp night and the stars were out. I switched the head torch off and took a moment.

Wonderful!

A definite moments of joy when I got the slidey bit back on to the new zip I'd almost finished installing in my supersuit, after having accidentally pulled it off while showing off to Sam (the original zip broke in July 2022), even if the moment when I pulled it off was the opposite of joyful.

Having it fixed is also quite joyful, I will probably wear it for Carnaval in February.

Accepting the ridiculous nature of running today and laughing as I ran up the hill which had a 2” deep stream of water running down it. Followed by a driver thinking it would be funny to drive through a puddle…. I couldn’t get any wetter so it made me laugh and smile

Excellent finding of joy in small things/adverse conditions today, folks.
That's what Joyuary is all about.

Joy #2 - A good deed to help someone out. I was asked by the dog trainer whose class we used to attend before all Wanda's health issues if we could help her out at lunchtime. She was being interviewed about training dogs to wear muzzles (in regard to the XL bully ban) but needed a dog who was happy to wear a muzzle to film (Wanda is not an XL bully but is muzzle trained which most of the dogs who go to the class aren't). So we have just appeared in the Channel 5 news. I'm not sure that Wanda was actually seen wearing a muzzle after all but she was a good dog none the less

Drive to work only took me 26 minutes today instead of the usual 40-45 minutes (not much traffic on the roads today). It was a happy start to the day.

About This Thread

As the arse end of the year is generally miserable, and to my mind is not improved by resolving to deny oneself one's greatest pleasures, I've decided to set myself a different new challenge: to find out create a moment of joy every day and record it - mostly in a Facebook group that a friend of mine set up several years ago for 'Fabruary', but I thought there might be a few Fetchies who would enjoy the concept too.

My idea is that moments of joy can come in all sizes - an...
