So this morning's random selector gave me Mr RowAlong's 40-minute push-pace workout: start at 2k+25 and every 4 minutes go 2 secs/500m faster so you end up on the final 4 minutes at 2k+7. One of those workouts where you need to be truthful with yourself about your current 2k pace! |

Sounds like a "fun" session, Muttley. Nice one. I had a bit of a monster this morning. 3 x 20 minutes @ r22 (UT1/tempo pace). With the warm up and down it clocked in at about 17.5km. Knackered now! But that's another 3 week cycle ticked off and next week is a (relatively) light week again. |

17.5km!! I'm tired just thinking about that... Question for those of you who use ErgData, specifically around interval workouts. I've noticed that on the WOD workouts they are set up with a specific number of intervals. I can't work out how to do this if I create my own workout, nor can I see how to edit a workout I've created. Am I being dumb or are these just not an option? I haven't googled it at all, figured you all might be a more reliable source! |

If you set a workout as “constant intervals” it just sets a work and rest period and leaves it open ended. To set something up with a specific number or intervals I think you’d have to set it as variable but then you have to set each work and rest separately. I think. |

Ah, thanks Nellers, I'll take a look at that. Something in me doesn't like the open-ended aspect! Just 3 x 12 mins today, lower back is a bit sore for some reason. |

I have to give a thimble of blood tomorrow for a blood test. Not allowed any exercise for 48 hours in advance. I am not grumpy.

That would make me grumpy too, Muttley. Does "no exercise" mean you can't go out for a walk or anything? Torture!

I was supposed to surrender my O Pos last week but the GP asked if I'd taken any "vigorous exercise" in the preceding couple of days. I said a steady run of about 8 miles the day before, and the day before that some easy rowing on the erg. That counted as vigorous, I suppose compared to the bulk of the population. The GP is a runner and understood (and approved) but decided to play safe anyway. It's a PSA test which apparently is affected by exercise and especially cycling, although I don't do any of that these days.

I guess vigorous could be defined as above a certain heart rate, would be useful if they could specify. And this may be a stupid question but are there anatomical factors in cycling, which wouldn't apply to rowing or running?
