Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The logbook will show the total for the session as what it thinks is the work element, but will show the rest metres separately.

If you want the full detail of the session (which I do because I'm a nerd even though I don't do much with the numbers) you can do a manual transfer:
1 - on the log click the button to "download as TCX"
2 - on Fetch add training by uploading a TCX
3 - find the latest file in your downloads and upload it to Fetch
4 - Manually label it as rowing - whatever it was and add any session notes you want

That way you will have total distance including rest metres, but you'll also have splits, split distance, rate, stroke length, power, pace etc.
It's just a bit of a faff having to do that for every session but you get used to it pretty quickly.

I'm pretty sure the C2 logbook will include rest metres in the lifetime and season total distances covered? Or am I mistaken?

Today was a different session. RowAlong mid tier, 3 x 9 minutes with 3 mins rest and at 20 spm but instead of the usual 2k+18-20 he prescribed 2k+10-12, ie, working the legs. Almost managed it.

Yes, Muttley. I'm pretty sure it does otherwise my t-shirts were delivered very early!

Trying for those higher paces at lower rates is tougher than you'd think isn't it? Good for form and strength though, and when you start to build the rate up again you'll feel a difference.

Rest metres never get added so I check the workout afterwards where it’s shown and add them as a block manually into the C2 log book.

It’s only applicable for intervals so not too much of an effort.

Oh blimey, Jef. In that case I did a lot more than I'd realised! a lot of my Wolverine sessions from pre-COVID would have included 4k+ of "rest", and I was rowing 3 or 4 of those sessions most weeks (plus a load of base metres). That's a lot of time on the slide that didn't earn me my t-shirts!:-(

Is that correct Jef? There was some outrage, mumble mumble years ago when it was discovered that the rest metres weren't added in and didn't show in the logbook total but I'm sure I've added them up for more recent rows after an interval row and they were added OK. So maybe there was a change of the maths?

It's confusing, because when you look at the summary log page you only see your interval metres, but on the page of the workout, the whole workout overall metres are there.

Well. I’ll be doing intervals tomorrow so I’ll check it out against total season and lifetime metres recorded.

Yeah rest metres are added to the logbook (well if you use Ergdata they are), for example w/c 18th Sept I did one interval session which included 903m rest, if I add up the logbook sessions for that week the metres add up to 33,229m but if I look at the logbooks weekly summary the total for that week shows 34,132m which includes the 903m 👌

I have some editing to do although I reckon I’ve rowed best part of 100km gym metres over the past year using their C2 as a warm up that I’ve never bothered logging.
