At this stage a session like that terrifies me! 2k @ r24 while carrying the fatigue from 12k would leave me looking at stannah stairlift ads.😉

Thankfully it wasn't an all out r24, so it was manageable although it still felt quite hard at the end of a 14k! I used to dream about owning a stairlift during my last couple of years as a runner, and even started looking at bungalows! Thankfully I manage the stairs perfectly well now that I don't run, and no longer have to go up them on my hands and knees 😂

It was coming down the stairs that used to terrify me after a particularly tough race. Several years on the trot I did the Midsummer Munro, outside Dorking, where you go up and down the sides of Box Hill a number of times -- 3,000 ft of climb in a half marathon. I used to walk down the stairs backwards for about a week after that one.

Day after running races, even 10Ks if I ran hard, I’d be coming downstairs backwards too but ok going up.
Hard rowing doesn’t have the same time effect coming down stairs but going up is a real test!

Too much BBQ food, beer and wine yesterday combined with high humidity this morning made for a tough day on the erg. Did my 2k warm up and despite sweating buckets I still attempted a 5k TT - bailed after 800m. Decided to do the next session on my plan 3 x 4k@ r18,18,26 - the first two went well but despite slowing down I bailed after 2k on the r26 - felt like I needed a sugar boost and trying to eat a chocolate wafer whilst erging is not advised 🤣
Did a 2k cool down, so I guess almost 15k in total has to be seen as a good days training despite the fails 😊

5 x 1 mile/4r @ current 5-6k pace, I had visions of me quitting this session in humid conditions, so I was quite pleased to complete it (I added an extra fan behind me which helped me cool down especially on the rests)

10 minutes @ r26 for me this morning. Another one that felt like a tough one but I guess it takes some getting used to the higher rates and it’s been a long time.
Unusual choice to go imperial on your distances there, Craggy. Good session though.

Just 2 x 10 mins this morning at UT1 pace. I decided to lay off for a week after slightly spraining my shoulder - by turning round awkwardly while working at the computer, annoyingly. Seems fine now though.
This completes week 5 of the Beginner PP, which I'm kind of following in my own time.

Nice work Nellers! I'm not sure why it's Imperial distance, but it's a progressive session that gets shorter and faster each week, so next week 1500m then 1400m etc so I guess the first week was just rounded up to mile reps from 1600m.
Good to see you back Muttley!

For 9 metres it feels like it’s worth it to tick it off as miles I guess.
I like the idea of progressively shorter. It’s the progressively faster part that bothers me. 🫣
