Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, I turned in an hour of UT1-ish this morning, as 4 x 15 minutes with brief breaks to sip some water and wipe the sweat off the headphones. I did consider carrying on for a further 9 hours but then thought ... nah, I'll do a shower, some lunch, a cuppa, and a nap instead.

Ha, Muttley! That depends on whether you want a 100k (including breaks and stretches) or 12-hour epic. Nice work on the UT1 session though.

I'm just going for distance and rowing time now, so today was a 55 minute r20 with Rowalong. The five power strokes every five minutes really did help. I then went for a cheeky 1k afterwards, at a bit faster than my 2k pace... and it felt surprisingly comfortable. Maybe a big week of targeting PBs is due soon?

Lunch, cuppa and a Nanna nap sounds good to me Muttley, well done, nice session!

If you're having issues with Ergdata it may be worth trying Ergzone Andy, think there are Rowalong sessions on there which would be useful for use, you can also set up sessions on the app which is a bit less fiddly than setting up sessions on the PM5.

I'm having a few days rest as my bone on bone knee has flared up a bit after my last two long rows, so may have to change direction and go shorter rather than longer. I'll enjoy a weekend of overindulgence first though 🍻🍰💕😁

Disaster this morning -- looks like my PM3 is dead. I've done the obvious simple checks, changed the batteries, checked the tacho wire, all to no avail. If I can't revive it I will have to decide -- retrofit a PM5 (but I'm useless at DIY) or use this as an excuse to treat myself to a new machine.

I replaced a PM2 with a PM5 a couple of years back, it was pretty simple (model C).

Oh no Muttley! All those millions of km together. Hope it can become a positive, either with a new PM5, or a new erg (or both, since resale value with a new PM5 monitor should be good).

I finished off a full-fat week with a 10k max effort. After all, a few miles in the legs is really no excuse not to go for it. I wasn't fully committed to it either, almost bailing out at 2k, telling myself to push on to 10 minutes, then to 5k... so pleased to take over half a minute from the previous effort, matching my best C2 log centile for older blokes. The last ten minutes was tough and the pace did fall off a bit - it's quite a long time to really go for it.

Craggy - thanks for the shout on ergzone. Something new to try (again!) The reviews are positive

I don't know why ergdata keeps failing. I set it up the same each time, and it usually works, but sometimes the workout simply doesn't save, sometimes with ergdata disconnected, but sometimes not. All a bit frustrating (but not like the monitor dying)

P.S. I did today's warm-up after playing with the monitor... intervals...variable...100 000m... just to see the (very scary) numbers.

Stopped with 98k to go. One day...

Looking like I shall treat myself. A retirement pressie, why not?

And I've long coveted one of the stealthy black ergs, because they're faster than the light grey ones.
