Nice work Muttley. That sounds like a fun*session.

I did 2 x 6km at tempo pace this morning. The first one was pretty straight forward. The second one was a bit more of a tester. That's probably how it should be.

*for fun read torture.

I remember my PTI when I was in the military some years ago. Among his many pearls of wisdom was "it's the second half of the workout that brings the benefits".

Another was "a little bit of pain never hurt anyone" :-)

LOL
Did he also have pearls such as “it ain’t training if it ain’t raining” and “be bold, start cold” ?!

60 minutes at r18 done this morning. I can tick off “be bold start cold” but I’m not so sure that the pain didn’t hurt!

Another pearl was "when I'm done with you, you'll have muscles in places where you haven't got places".

Ye Gods Nellers, I've not yet fully woken up.

Me neither Muttley. Had to get it done early today because I’ve got errands to run.

Nice season yesterday Muttley! Haha timed sessions mess with my head!

Blimey, nice early morning session Nellers, I bet you left a nice puddle there 😅

An easy 6k yesterday, and today 3k warm up then 1300m @ 2k pace, 3:30 rest 400m faster, 30s rest, 300m faster. Then 3k cool down. I wasn't looking forward to this season but hit my targets 👍

This sport is def more mentally challenging than running!!

The monitor with the stark truth of the pace doesn't give you anywhere to hide does it Craggy? When you're running you can pretend you are going flat out. On a C2 you can see clearly when you're not. Messes with the head a bit.

That sounds like a tough session tonight. There are similar running sessions in a mile plan I played with a few years ago where you break the full distance down in a similar way (800m, 500m, 300m if I remember correctly) and try to do each at better than target pace.

It was somewhat unpleasant. I threw up.

Tomorrow is my first "level 1" session of the BRIC experiment. It's going to be either 16 x 250 or 8 x 500m at better than planned race pace (so for me better than 1:45). Recoveries are equal distance at r16 or thereabouts, so plenty long enough.

I'm not looking forward to this but it's got to happen if I'm going to have any chance of getting the pace up to make BRIC worth it.

Yes I love the live data on the monitor but it does mess with your head when you see the pace drifting. And the the middle section of a 2k (1200m - 700m to go) is pure hell!

Yes that run training looks like a similar training method, it looks a tough session! I never trained for a mile, kinda wish I had.

Good luck with your session tomorrow, whichever one you choose it'll put down a good marker to build upon.

Loving the no pain no gain quotes 👍
