Nice work Nellers, that's a really strong first session! You'll see less pace drift once you get a few more of these sessions behind you.

Nice progress on the 10k again Muttley 👍

Beginners Pete Plan sounds like a good idea SallyKate.. 3 core sessions and 2 optional so you could start with 3 sessions a week to fit around your running and then progress to 4 or 5.

36 mins @r18 for me tonight.

I liked the theory on one of the links for training about progressive training; making continuous progress, not trying to peak for a race. Never seen that written about in running but it makes sense.

Had a go on the rower at the gym on Sunday, made 8:26. I remember I used to beat 8 minutes 20 years ago. So I see a few weeks of cross training on the rowing instead of spin classes in my near future. :)

That sounds like the Wolverine Plan, Logicscience. It's what I've been working around and adapting to fit around life, for most of the last year. Seems to work when I can stick to it.

If you're knocking out an 8:26 off no rowing training you'll be down to sub-8 in no time.

Got a Wolverine Level 2 session done this morning. 4 x 2km at anaerobic threshold pace (target for me was better than 1:59, preferably around 1:57). It was tough but its meant to be. Beat 1:59 average on all of them. It's an encouraging session for the BRIC plans.

After lunch I'm heading up to Leicester for the weekend so probably no rowing until Monday evening. This is the other reason I'm not sure about BRIC. While I'm home training is full on and working, but I'm away a fair bit and then training is sporadic at best. On the positive side this gives me time for recovery, which I think I need at the moment.

Still very much undecided.

That's a great start Logicscience, sub 8 is a good target and achievable with a few weeks of rowing! My first 2k was 8.24 (I was laid on the floor afterwards) I think the continuous progressive training is probably easier in rowing as its a non impact sport.

Great season Nellers, 4 x 2k at that pace is tough! I think with the training you've been logging you can afford yourself a few days rest, it'll give your body chance to recover and adapt 👍

2k tonight capped at rate 28, managed 7:08.6 which is a PB by 6.7 secs. I was going to say I'm looking forward to a free rate TT, but I don't think "looking forward" are the right words 😂 3k warm up, 5k cool down.

Wow! That's hell of a pace to hit off R28 Craggy. Brilliant! When you go free rate that sub-7 is yours surely?

I'll update the league table.

Thanks Nellers! I hope so, I think I'll be having a bash within the next month, it'd be nice to go into BRIC with a sub 7, still hate the 2k though. Have you competed anywhere before mate? It'll be my first comp

My first one too. I planned to give it a shot last year then ricked my back about this time and missed a month of training.

There aren't that many events for indoor rowing are there? I know there's an English Indoor Champs which is about February time but I couldn't get last year. It was Manchester which was a bit of a trek for me from Essex. BRIC is almost on my doorstep.

Manchester might be a bit easier next year as my daughter is at uni in Salford now.

No there aren't many, my mate used to compete 15 - 20 years ago and there used to be more comps back then.

Yes you could maybe tie the English Champs in with a visit to your daughter, there's also Just Row in April also in Manchester I think. There's a comp in Nuneaton this weekend, might look at doing that one next year.

Nuneaton? I'm in Leicester this weekend but I can't really justify deserting my mum for a day for that.
