I cycled 35 miles over the weekend with my 8 year old (which took 6 hrs). Sadly I probably ate all the calories and then some over the rest of the weekend. Must try harder!

Started the week well, and in spite of being away with work and then some treats at the weekend, weighed in at 3lb less this week (12st exactly). Did run 18 miles over the weekend though, so some of that loss will probably creep back on, but Monday's a good day for determination. :-)

I weighed this morning - cant remember what it was as will still sleepy but it was a definite gain - but then have just had a fetch hill running weekend where there was crisps, beer and chocolate - we did do running at some point tho - cause my legs are def feeling it today! So I am not bothered about the gain as I had a fab time :-)

will do better this week.

I spectacularly fell off the wagon this weekend by eating my bodyweight in turkey burgers.

In my defence, they were shaped like dinosaurs.

nom nom.

Just checking in again. Mission accomplished!! I lost a stone from 13 to 12 stones. I failed totally when this group was created earlier this year, and actually put on weight in the run-up to the marathon in April.

In the end what worked for me was a low-carb 'paleo' diet. Meat, fish, 'good' fats (coconut, butter, lard, beef dripping, olive oil), lots of vegetables and some fruit and nuts. Cut out bread, potatoes, pasta, rice etc; basically all grain based foods, sugar and processed foods. Avoided Omega-6 rich polyunsaturated fats such a sunflower oil, and added 1tsp per day Omega-3 fish oil. For details of diet look at Mark's Daily Apple blog. I didn't specifically reduce (or count) calories.

The first 5 weeks I lost 2-3lbs per weeks without feeling hungry. Since then I have 3-4lbs in the following 5 weeks. I have not been running at all during the diet, only swimming and hiking. I intend to start running again in September when the weather cools down a bit.
