Well done riggys99 A confidence boosting start to marathon training ! An hour easy in the rain. I am finding winter running a bit of a slog with the weather conditions recently. |

Yes indeed, Solo Our penance for the temperate climate! Last night, 9pm, 3 min. short of the hour, 95% beach, because it was firm and flat. Out 'n' back to Marina, then along beach to Crosby Leisure Centre, where I U-turned parallel to the dunes and back to base. Furthest (in time) since eye ops. ![]() |

A good nine miles under my belt & met three deer on the path near Dunblane. They just stood waiting for me to pass.

Well done swittle - nice to get the new year kicked off with a good run. I saw the New Year through with both my last run of 2023 & first run of 2024 - though technically it was several runs over the night. My kids watched a Beau Miles challenge video a couple of month's ago - 'run a marathon in 24 hours', and they fancied something similar over New Year's Eve. So, a noon start on New Year's Eve with a 3 miler, followed by run a mile on the hour, every hour, for the next 23 hours, to get us up to marathon distance. The last mile started at 11am on New Year's Day. My 17yo son managed a 7:20 mile to finish. Although I felt like I had the energy, with a lack of sleep, my legs had nothing left to give, so my daughter and I jogged round in a more sedate fashion. It was a different way to see in the new year. Difficult, but not unmanageable. No tv, no alcohol, no partying. Just a challenge ticked off. But next year I might stick to falling asleep in front of the telly... |

My longest run for two months. Predictably, not the most efficient run I've ever done.

Jono.
1 Mile ran today. Can't help remembering a R4 program talking about water shortages in the future, just can't see it somehow.
