My 5k is 35:xx prediction but my last hard effort was 39
The reason why I asked was because I was wondering if I need to practice working hard so I can run that time or if it was a proper training block to get that.

I'm so used to easy running that "I can't" run hard ATM if that makes sense

makes perfect sense, Pix - am in the same boat. Pin a number on and it's a bit different but you do need run hard practice - or I do anyway, as well as training for the actual speed

This is the page on the 'new' race predictor I linked to a few years back. It's possible that a newer page with more detail is put there but it gives a good idea of how it works.

...and if you want to see what the old predictor would have said for you, this page has quite a few of the times.

Race predictor gives me: 5K 23:10, 10K 48:03, Half 1:46:29 and mara 3:41:03. My PBs are 5K 24:44 (set in 2015), 10K 52:40 (set in 2016), half 1:56:46 (set in 2017) and mara 4:12:31 (set in 2016). I therefore conclude the race predictor is wildly optomistic.

My race 5k race predictor is about 1 minute 30 ahead of my last parkrun but it's undulating on grass. Think I could manage it on a flat course.

Does anyone else get recommended 3 days rest after every run? I'm not doing that.

I get it recommended, I never pay attention to it. I had 35 hours left when I ran this morning 😂

Speaking of which, my 5k prediction was about 30s out so not too bad

If you pay attention to Garmin recovery you'd never train

I get varied numbers for recovery, in the last week I've been as low as 13 hours and as high as 48 hours. The recovery is in regards to hard sessions and once it gets down to 20 hours it's generally green which is pretty much continue as normal. With the correct max in, I don't find the recovery stuff for running too bad. It probably over estimates short hill sprints sometimes and under estimates MD races. Max for hours for recovery is 96 hours (4 days).
