How do you see the queue? larkim When you click on the “Train” tab, if there is a significant queue, it will tell you what it is and an estimate of how long it will take to clear (though, like estimated download times, that can be a bit elastic 😁) |

Does it only appear "in times of trouble"? Thanks for the reply! Yes, times of trouble and busy times - like 9:30 - 10:00 on a Saturday morning. |

It's a while since we talked about the FIT SDK here Just noticed that there's now a Python package in the SDK, which you can install with pip rather than downloading the SDK (and has been for a year, which says something about how often I do update!). Changed some code I use regularly from a rarely-updated third party library to this and am getting identical results very slightly faster (but I very slightly improved the code while I was at it). Still loads of undocumented fields but they are available in the output indexed by number, not any worse to deal with than in other packages. Package is garmin_fit_sdk |

I've been tinkering with the Python FIT SDK for a while now - it seems to work ok. The only issue I've had is that there are cases where the sequencing of messages is important, but is lost by the decode operation (e.g. HRV messages are associated with the record message that precede them, but there's no straightforward way of figuring out which one that was). Not a big deal, just a little annoying. |

I could go look, but it's easier to ask... Is there a published Garmin API that these packages depend on, or is it all reverse engineered stuff? There's a few things I'd like to try, but don't have the time to get too far down a rabbit hole with them atm. |

Lol. The file format is completely documented, but the meaning (and scale factors) of a lot of the fields is not. Best source I've found for interpretations of them is github.com SDK has python, Java,c,c++, maybe one or two other things. |
