I have been running since 1999 but didn’t get a garmin until October 2007. My garmins have been
305 - lasted almost 2 years before suntan lotion got into it while on holiday and it died a fizzling death
305 - lasted longer but lost its battery charge and became useless if I ran for more than 90 mins
610 - had a habit of losing satellite reception randomly and after doing it 11 miles into the 2017 Chester marathon I lost patience with it
735 - on its second strap and a bit scratched but working well. Albeit it took ages to locate satellites today which is unusual
I loved my first 305 but realise now it was a bit clunky. It was a 40th birthday present from Mrs axe when I didn’t know such a piece of kit existed and no idea how she found out about it.
It was an eye opener for me in terms of how far and fast I was running.

I tried out the fenix 7 today. With all gps bells and whistles turned on, there’s a significant improvement. Not once did the instant pace wander away. I ran under thick canopy, next to steep hills and cliffs and so on, and everywhere were my FR 945 have gone bonkers, Fenix 7 just kept a steady pace. Lovely.

Fragile Do Not Bend
My list
110 220 230 45s
Hated the size of the first 3 on my tiny wrist so I bought the 45s mainly to have something a sensible size.

Very short list for me, but multiples of each. And mine is since 2008, so 14 years.
305 (x2) 310xt (x2) Vivoactive - still got, though think it's lost VA3 (x2) - still got, will be my "back up" VA4
The xN is because of the great refurb deal for £50 that Garmin did for a long time. G

Bought my first Garmin late 2008.
FR405. After the strap broke and I struggled to fit a new one, I returned it to Garmin in exchange for a reconditioned one and a small fee. The lugs for the strap pin eventually failed on this replacement. Still have it but can't wear it!
FR620. Had this for a couple of years but it didn't have navigation which I used quite a lot on the 405 when away from home.
FR935. Current device. Working fine and does everything I want.

Velociraptor
Cheap stopwatch + distance measured by driving round my most used run routes in the car or just guessed. eL Bee!'s old 201 205 405 310xt 910xt 35, and then I bought a 735xt a couple of weeks later. I'm still using both of those almost three years on. I'm not much of a geekist and the 35 has all I need for running.
