That's disappointing. I have the habit of putting my watch on to charge each night as I don't wear it to sleep. I did leave my 7s for 3 days and, whilst I wasn't watching the battery life avidly, it never looked dangerously low. I do have the backlight set to come on gesture, so that will drain the battery I assume. Did it definitely charge? I do get it sometimes where the connector just doesn't seem to engage the charging properly. No idea how, because it's a tight fit and it clicks into place very positively, you can't really loosely connect it. But I have had this on at least 3 Garmins, with different cables (all original ones).

gg - did it not warn you battery was getting low during the activity, and offer to switch to one of the battery saving modes ? The 6 does that I'm sure

Yes i had a newish garmin cable charging poorly to, got it exchanged and then i worked. Lets hope it that. My F7 has been used a lot for 5 days now and lost about 20% i think. So it seems ok so far i guess. |

quimby, I got new cable from Garmin 2 or 3 months ago (free of charge) and that seemed to have solved my issue. I was wondering if maybe the connector on my watch had got sweaty, but it looked clean (and I cleaned it anyway), but the new cable sorted my connection issues. K5, about the battery saving modes, I went out for a 10-miler this morning and my Garmin 6x was on about 10% when I went out, and when I came back it was on 3% (in the dark, I do have it set so that the screen is always on so it did drain quite a lot due to that, which is no issue). It only went into battery-saving mode when I stopped the activity back at the house though, and it didn't warn me when I was out on my run. Following your post, I just checked through the menus and saw that you can edit the settings on an activity-type basis, so I have just done that, so thanks for the tip. |

I did notice earlier in the day charge had dropped but I thought I’ll charge tonight. When I went out it was down to 1hr for activity so I tried to change battery saver failed. But I thought I won’t be out that long it will be fine but it died around 20min later Think it’s more the loss of 3 days charge but maybe I had done more tracking activities. I’ll see how this week goes. |

That’s incredible bowman and more what this was like first week the battery didn’t seem to drop. I charged it on Wednesday night I ran & walked yesterday and it’s down to 81%. I just looked I had it set on all systems instead of just GPS wondering if when I’ve been faffing on settings I’d changed that inadvertently I can’t see me needing anything other than GPS at home. |

Great that you solved it Geordigirl. I’m keeping every thing on, I run in the woods and around hills and mountains so the “extra” gps settings is really helpful and noticeable for me. |

My 7s is set to All Systems - I guess that's the default. I last charged it on Tuesday night. I've recorded 7 activities since then. It says 61% this morning (6 days standby, if I press Run it says 17h). I'll probably record another 2 activities today - I'll see what it's down to by tonight. As someone who usually gets twitchy when any chargeable tech gets below 70%, that's probably as far as I'm willing to go. 😉

I always let it run to empty unless I’m due on a run then I’ll charge early. The all systems is a fantastic option and I’ll use it if I go more off grid although I never had a problem with the 6s so maybe on my 2 big races. It’s lost 1% so far today but now heading off for a long run. Is there anywhere that gives a clue on what solar charge adds to the charge? I do think it got more sunlight in week 1 too. |

geordiegirl Have you seen this picture? So that gives you some clue. And as I understand, when you look at your solar widget and it says 150k lux It has got 3h of 50k lux. And that’s what Garmin counts for the gains in that chart. Although if you get more sun it will give you more charge. |
