AndyS Nov 2021 3:18pm, 19 Nov 2021 620 posts	0 AndyS My experience of Garmin refurbs has been variable - if you get a good one, great. But if you get a bad one, expect a world of aggravation. They say they replace the battery, but I had 3 or 4 consecutive refurbs with duff batteries. You then have to fight with Garmin service to get the bad one replaced. My wife's experience was very similar.

Unfortunately he's not done a 45 Plus review (only the base 45) so I can't do a direct comparison. In the end, most of what I'll be doing is using it to record distance and time, so it's whether the extra features will actually be useful to me. I do think there's an awful lot of features that are pretty pointless....

Badger Nov 2021 7:54am, 24 Nov 2021 14,386 posts	0 Badger The battery life on the 55 is quite a lot higher. Fewer charge cycles means that the battery capacity won’t degrade as quickly, so you could be using it for longer before needing to replace it, which I know is important to you.

Sure the 45 plus is decent but every new model up will improve on the previous model and for £20 more you get updates that probably widen the gap. Possible you won't need the updates but the saving doesn't seem enough to go for previous gen tech.
