I'm 64 and at my peak (2008) I was a real 66 but was 56 on my last test

Current run form is long 17 low 18 5km (untested since a 17.4x early lockdown), weight is good(relative)

Interestingly it predicts 64 on the bike as well as does my very flashy cycling software but again I'd expect somewhere more 56 - 60 - I'm apprehensive to predict but given my cycling focus expect my ability to push and suffer would get me a slightly better score on the bike.

Logically fitness is fitness but I know what I know about me

even if it isn't "right" as an estimate of my VO2Max, it's at least a consistent summary metric to keep on top of
Absolutely agree there - it does work very well, even if the absolute number looks well off.
I do use Trail Run on my watch where appropriate (and enough hills, even if a lot of the surface is even, probably put a run in that bracket) so that the value isn't pulled down by the deceptively slow pace/high HR for the distance. Not sure if your watch supports that, not all of them do, but one of the differences with the standard Run is that it's ignored for VO2max.

I do find that the VO2 max figure from my watch is a reasonable measure of my current fitness, whatever it means! My Peugeot has climate control, which can be something between 15 and 24 from memory, but the user manual says this isn’t temperature, it’s a measure of warmth! I think of my VO2 the same, it’s a measure of something, whether it’s correct or not is a different matter.

On the other hand, my LT measured on the watch is exactly what was measured by a test in a lab, damn clever how it works it out?

63 is the highest I've seen on my 230. Equates to 16:19 for 5k and I ran 16:26 at the time.

I've been tempted to get a 245 for a while but 230 is still going strong and haven't seen a deal that would tip me over the temptation edge.

Does anybody know how to report faulty gps tracking to Garmin? I should have got more squares in my WSW match on the way to my moms this morning but instead my garmin has placed me on an impossible route that started and finished a couple of miles away from my actual route.

Gooner, what watch do you have? Also whats the GPS version of that watch? You can't actually report bad tracking to Garmin but make sure you are on the latest GPS software and also wait just slightly longer before starting will help greatly.
