That last episode was so tense and Paddy Considine's performance was epic. I did struggle with working out who the aged up characters were, the 2 sisters are blurring into one ill defined young girl. I hope they are better written in the next episodes. I also couldn't quite remember who their parents were for a while but I now think marrying them to the 2 boys is not quite as incestuous as I first thought But apart from that I loved it and it's setting up nicely for some civil war carnage! |

But yes, I'm horribly confused as to whose sprogs are whose. All this intermarriage is getting very West Virginia now.

it gets pretty confusing when they're both cousins and uncles and step siblings and betrothed! Plus the generations and the growing up! Not to mention all the similar names, another Aegon and Viserys, Aemond, Baela, Rhaena, Rhaenys etc etc! Just caught up. It seems there is no punishment for beheading your uncle-in-law in the middle of a full court. Top makeup for the King and a fantastic performance. The dinner scene was like some awkward family Christmas. They so nearly got it all reconciled until Aemond ruined it. |

Sky/Now Hanneke. It’s very good! I think you could watch House of the Dragon without having seen any Game of Thrones, though there is much more depth and complexity if you know some of the background, even if that’s just 1 or 2 series of GoT. GoT and HotD make compelling tv series because they’re full of complex characters with little defined black/white or good/evil and the stories can take unexpected turns. In contrast I’ve found myself quite disappointed by Rings of Power which feels bland and predictable and too shiny. |

It seems there is no punishment for beheading your uncle-in-law in the middle of a full court. The stuff he was saying about whores and bastards basically amounted to treason didn’t it? Punishable by beheading? Dr Who was just speeding up the court system and went straight to enacting the punishment. |

Yes good point. I suppose the king had already said to take his tongue. That’s some sharp sword too!

Valyrian Steel, Meglet. It's even sharper than Valyrian Plastic. And yes, Vaemond had pretty much condemned himself anyway with that outburst. I suspect if Daemon hadn't dealt with him he'd have lost his tongue and died a slow death in the Black Cells (where Ned was imprisoned). |
