I found the 3rd episode slightly dull until Matt Smith turned up! Amazing that he had no dialogue and yet was so mesmerising

There are always theories floating about around details that might (or might not) be significant clues.
Recently there was a theory that Talia, Queen Allicent’s maid, is being so visibly and prominently positioned in so many scenes that she must be a significant character. A spy? But for who? Having an affair with someone? Maybe? The bastard daughter of a noble? Targaryen blood? Something though. Definitely something significant.
Anyway, turns out she’s played by the wife of one of the show runners. I think that particular mystery is solved.🤦🏼♂️

Also theories relating to the rats, though we haven’t seen them recently.
Loved the last episode. So much happening. And the final twist for Laenor’s fate. Apparently E8 is even better, but I’ll be away and not able to watch until Thursday, consequently I have muted as many HOD references and accounts on Twitter as possible to avoid spoilers if I can

Rats and werewood trees and dreamers, Meglet.
In the previous episode Aemond’s sister said “he’ll have to close an eye” in amongst her seemingly meaningless ramblings while Queen Allicent was telling him he’d have a dragon one day. Coincidence? Is anything coincidence in this show?

I feel it's really hit its stride with the new cast, I much prefer the older Rhaenerys and Allicent. It's on a smaller scale than GOT cast-wise but it's covering a much longer time frame. It's taken me a while to get used to it but the last 2 episodes have been great. It still has some flaws and it's not quite as good as GOT but it's great fun. Glad it's been renewed for a second series.

There’s another time jump next week and the kids have been recast but I think that will then be the timeframe for most of the rest of the series, which I think will help it to feel more coherent to some viewers.
A shame, because hough, as I think their casting has been excellent with the younger actors.

Given that the time jumps are necessary I think they’ve done a decent job. By the end of the episode after the jumps they’ve established who everyone is again and what they’re up to. I just think that a bit more time with the characters would have helped.
And the title sequence is just indecipherable without an awful lot of pausing and a lot of background knowledge and cross-referencing. They were always on a loser because the GoT map titles were so brilliant and clear and helpful and iconic, but they’ve definitely missed the mark. It looks pretty but it’s not helpful in the way they thought it would be.

The titles are supposed to be the family tree. Sigils fill with blood when they die, extra lines for children. But as individual characters don’t really have sigils it’s too difficult to make out.
I don’t mind the time jumps and think the casting has been excellent, but then again I knew about the time jumps in advance. I recommend ‘Dragoncast’ podcast if you like a bit of reaction and analysis after each episode. It’s not spoilery apart from stuff that’s in the general domain like cast changes.
