I managed 35min shuffle without walking. Not quite running but not walking. 😁😁
I wish I could do that Pam My fast walking is getting towards that sort of speed, and when a driver waves me across a road in front of them, I occasionally keep jogging. But my knees always seem to complain afterwards ..

Morning everyone.
0.6kg down here on the week - on the basis of three very indulgent days (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) followed by four days on plan. I'll happily take that but am aware I need to be in this for the long-term; the first four weeks are what will really matter, to prove I can stick to it.

Hello, everyone. Hello again, to anyone who remembers me.
So, what’s happened since I last posted on this thread, well over 2 years ago?
Well, the early commitment to renewed exercise lumbered on for about 6 months, finally petering out in the first quarter of 2022. Despite that, I lost around a stone over my first year of retirement, and while it tended to bobble around a bit, it stayed below where it had been, so I was content enough.
My diabetes remained at the upper end of acceptably well controlled, although thanks to increasing age, I could no longer resist the nurse’s blandishments that I should be on a statin (even though my cholesterol wasn’t massively above what it should be).
I turned 60 (gulp!)
Husband and I started a healthier-eating-and-exercise (but not a diet) regime since we got back from our New Year’s break a week ago.
Then today I went for my annual diabetes review, to be told that my blood glucose is way too high (which I had kind of guessed) so I will soon be starting on a 3rd medication to bring it down. Poo!
So that increases my motivation to get serious with the healthier-eating-and-exercise (but not a diet) regime. Started with a swim yesterday morning and my gym induction visit. Continued with walking back from my medical appointment this morning (1.85 miles, 39 minutes) and am booked in for a functional fitness class tomorrow morning. And there have been fewer snacks/sweets, more cooking from fresh and more vegetables.
No running….. but I know you guys are the best and no-one will report me to Fetch for not running.

Nice to see you RevBG! I'm not running at the moment either but I don't think anyone minds
Best of luck with your healthier regime, sounds like you've made a great start.

Oh hello RevBG I do remember you! Great to see you back and I hope being here gives you extra motivation for your healthier lifestyle (diets are bad imho, much better lifestyle choices and changes) Good luck with the walking & swimming and keep checking in.
Well done SallyKate

Welcome back RevGB, good luck with your cooking and exercise plan - also good luck with blood glucose levels.
Am another not currently running. As part of rehab physio today I had my butt (OK, butt scar) massaged for 45 min!

Hello again RevBG! Also not running. Working on healthier meals and building up walking outside to enjoying it (whilst obsessively recording the distance). The gym is there but resting at the mo.

Blimey, @GetOut - I’m glad it was a rehab physio you got massaged by. I’m sure there are more specialised workers who would provide a similar service for a LOT more money.
