Friend came round with family and left with 4 bags of towels/linen, 3 for them and one for a charity shop.

Oops, I'd forgotten about this; better get back to it.

Re children forgetting about things: when mine actually were children, my sister-in-law won a huge and rather unattractive pink teddy bear; and passed it on to our household. It was never really played with, being too big; just took up space. Eventually I put it away in the attic, and waited... Months went by, nobody mentioned big pink bear. After nearly a year, I quietly gave it away. A week later, one of the children said "Where's pink bear?"

I cobbed out some more stuff yesterday after sorting out the toys. Still got so much stuff though.

Hey I've just joined the group as I'm on a mission to declutter and reduce waste :-)

Went through our bedroom yesterday as need to make space for baby no 2 (due in 3wks). Gone through kitchen cupboards, duplicate casserole dishes, tagine dish and serving dishes are bagged and ready for charity shop.

It's very therapeutic :-)

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
