Lol @ Lizzie.
Got rid of dress and jacket to a charity shop. Failed to get rid of a set of little characters (Snow White and the 7 dwarfs) which my mother knitted. Took them to a coffee morning but no-one bought them.

Towels and single sheets and duvet sets are always wanted at the homeless places. When their clients find somewhere to live they can give them these things to get started and the towels are always needed in the hostels.

Towels in our household tend to become bike rags, sometimes before I intended to declutter them

My daughter is going on a school expedition thing next year and has to raise money for it, so we've been selling unwanted stuff on the local Facebook page for the last 9 months. I think the most we've asked was £85 and the lowest is £5. Most things have been £10-£30.
I calculated today that these sales have raised around £900!!
The house doesn't feel much less cluttered, but I'm pretty chuffed with the income!

3 bags collected on Monday by NSPCC and another bag to go to Great North Air Ambulance tomorrow (just need to fill it tonight) I'm on a roll!
That is amazing WA! what a great way to de-clutter and raise money! And is must be less cluttered, if only for the next few weeks.... Where is she off too? A few people I know their kids are off to Madagascar, but its such an effort to raise the funds.

on the towel / sheets front the towels tend to get recycled into dog towels, or I take some to the local rescue centre. Sheets in the past have become dust sheets but less need for that these days.
We have a local domestic abuse refuge which take anything like that to help people who have walked with nothing, its been great for moving on things that may be useful for setting up home, esp household stuff, ornaments, pictures etc.

Busy having conversations with my mum about not buying stuff for the sake of it for Xmas, trying to encourage useful gifts that we will use, she is a tinker for buying 'stuff' that you end off keeping and feeling guilty about rehoming at a later date.
I don't want to sound ungrateful but I am so trying to keep the 'stuff' to a minimum.

Snow White and the 7 went to a craft stall being run by the Food bank at a local Christmas Fair. As far as I know, they were purchased.

@Columba - I thought I was in the jokes thread and was desperately searching for the punchline to that....
