Nearly 25-years ago the missus and I had very few possessions, there was no clutter.

Nearly 25-years later and the house is full of clutter.

Will keep an eye on this with great interest!

Still at my mum's... at least six big refuse bags full of old clothes. They have been steadily disappearing each time one of those clothing collection appeal bags comes through the letterbox!

Cleared out the garage the other day, I can actually get to the washing machine and my freezer without having to dodge stuff.

Really need to do the kitchen cupboards and clean them too.

I keep thinking I should take a load of stuff to a car-boot sale. *Maybe* this thread will finally make me do it!

As you know, I am seeking professional help with this...
I don't have a sentimental attachment to anything except picture books, but my house is quite small with almost no storage. I cannot wait to get rid of the crap with someone else to help me :)
My local council now collect textiles, so for all the clothes which aren't good enough to donate to charity they will take, fabulous! They also take small electricals.

This is my aspiration! My house could do with a good de-clutter, but it's my parents house that really gives me the shivers. They've been in it 48 years and are both in their late 70s. My heart sinks every time I go to see them.

I love decluttering, it's a habit I got into early. As kids if my sister and I ever said we were bored in the school holidays Mum would get us decluttering. Toys, books, clothes mainly, even Dad's wardrobe would get culled while he was at work. My folks still regularly declutter, I am convinced one day I'll find them in their empty bungalow sitting on two upturned buckets having got rid of everything else. Last weekend I culled some old toiletries and handbags and next weekend I plan to have another sweep through my wardrobe. Happy decluttering people! :-)

Luckily my mum is ruthless, she helped a neighbour declutter once and was so shocked by his hoarding that she got rid of half the stuff in her house! We've been here for 20 years and you definitely get used to being surrounded by Stuff after a while...

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
