Fleece and Dust
Flylady is insane. All that stuff about shining your sink and wearing lace up shoes indoors, she needs help. We decluttered the dining room (though Mr fleecy' bike is still there...) It looks a million times better than before. Got rid of 5 bin liners for charity, 1 for recycling and 2 for landfill. Now just got to get everyone to decide on their stuff which is in the decide pile, and put some things on Freecycle. And work out where to put that bloody bike. Worth every penny though I am completely exhausted now and can't imagine doing that to every room in the house. She kept saying stuff like 'what's your VISION for this room?' and I'm like 'to have less crap in it'. She was very nice though, very competent and worked her socks off. She's coming back in November... |

I'm up for this We're not particularly cluttery, we're just five adults (six at the moment) and our stuff living in a house that would benefit from being better organised and having slightly fewer things in it, and some of us are sometimes a little untidy. I'm having another phase of reducing the number of novels on the bookshelves (I've tended to ship out one author at a time - Reginald Hill, Maeve Binchy and Lynne Reid Banks moved out last week) and when Fellmouse goes to university in a week's time we'll be inviting impacthousing.org.uk to relieve us of three chests of drawers and a small table. eL Bee! will build storage space into her room and we'll redecorate it. Having to use the conservatory as a bedroom meant that we cleared a lot of lumber out of it a couple of weeks ago, but some of that just got churned into the garage temporarily. We plan to put the dining table and chairs into the conservatory (after repainting the walls and cleaning the carpet) and bring the sofa bed out to the corner of the kitchen where the table and chairs currently live, permanently swamped by bicycles and bicycle-related objects. I'll take before and after photos of the rooms. |

Blimey, that's a project! Anyone Reading way getting rid of furniture, there's an Age Concern furniture warehouse in Winnersh Triangle - I believe they pick up too. They also take most charity shop items. The previous TV cabinet is going there if my dear mother doesn't say soon whether she wants it or not, a year after the house move! I may stand in my study and look at the mess tonight. Step 1 |

Just had a very satisfying hour clearing out my kit drawers. I've got rid of all the stuff that's past it ro too small and now have just one tidy drawer of kit that I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in Rest of the stuff either binned or bagged for the charity shop

F ing Fleecy
I have had a whole week now with a clean, tidy, uncluttered dining room. Well, apart from Mr fleecy's bike... And THEN, the fucker goes and buys another pair of shoes! So I took a photo of the box when it was delivered and texted it to him with a ransom note demanding an old pair of shoes in return. He did not find that funny The decluttering lady described him as 'resistant'. She does not know the fucking half of it! He already has 4 drawers for shoes (which are full), the kids have one each and I have two (actually half empty, but I keep my stinky sports shoes elsewhere). What is a fleece to do? I also had an action plan from Declutter Lady. It depresses me to look at it, so I'm not. But I have been to the tip twice this week on my way to other places, and dropped off some old clothes and books and stuff into a charity bin, and put some stuff on Freecycle which got picked up eventually. I'm counting that as a win |

I haven't started as yet! Sounds like some good progress from others though. I think your text was funny Fleecy even if Mr F didn't |

You're doing well, Fleecicles You have my heartfelt sympathy regarding the mismatch between what you want to do and what Mr Fleecy is doing. eL Bee! and I are very well matched clutterwise, but I was previously married to the world's biggest clutterbug and a constant war against the house being taken over by piles of paper and the contents of the reduced counter at the local Co-op was part of my life. I could tell some stories ... We've spent the day taking a carload of teenager and accessories 200 miles away. The house doesn't look any tidier. And VP has discovered that the jigsaws in his bedroom were only the tip of the iceberg and the loft is full of his jigsaws too. I'm not doing 15 minutes of FlyLadying today. I'm too tired. |
