Yesterday morning was the rain was horrendous..anyone doing the Lap would have been slipping and sliding like they were drunk. But ..all dry and bright blue sky since then. It probably will be wet underfoot in some parts of Longsleddale, but it will still be beautiful. |

Today was beautiful indeed. Ended up in Newlands as I got a good run up the M6 and needed to finish the Wainwrights in that area. Quite busy on the fells, a little boggy in places but when it’s so warm there’s little to worry about other than heatstroke! Now sat in Keswick drinking some local beers. Probably sounds a bit sad to the locals but when you’re marooned in Windsor…..it’s heaven. Can’t wait to move back up here. |

Sat in Keswick drinking beer surely wouldn't sound sad to anyone, @Windsor Wool ?

😀. Buttermere today. Need to remind myself why Alfred loved Haystacks so much but I did love the ascent of Fleetwith Pike. And the wander back along Buttermere shoreline was lovely tbf. Was thinking about Keswick parkrun in the morning but the back section might be the downhill that breaks the old man’s legs! Will see. |

Fleetwith Pike was my last Wainwright. I think Wainwright liked Haystacks because of the combination of tarns, mild scrambling, and position. |

No Windermere Marathon in 2025! That’s a shame. The 10 in 10 will go ahead, though. Extract from the email: “However, it requires a significant amount of resource to organise both in time and cost, and has not consistently given Brathay a good enough return on this investment. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision not to deliver the Windermere Marathon in 2025.” |
