A lovely round from Glenridding on Monday, taking in Hart Side and Hellvellyn plus everything in between (revisits on the main NS ridge). Yesterday's wobbly weather pushed us to the Whinkatter quintet, and today's 'oribble rain meant for just Castle Crag. @Northern Exile , could you tally me up to 78, please? Thanks. Bus to Buttermere tomorrow morning, and then heading eastwards over the final BG fells if all goes well. Done |

They're going pretty well right now - best of luck to them: live.kongtracking.com At White Side they're on the BG club schedule for bang on 24 hours. So given the current weather (looking at the rain radar) I'd suggest they are already very tight for time. The ground and more importantly the rock is going to be very wet on leg 3, plus quite a big chunk will be in the dark so I suspect they may well be struggling by Wasdale. |

I'd agree with that, it was going to be a big ask in these conditions. The ground must be sodden. I'd like to be proven wrong of course, you never know what people are capable of.

Looks like they binned it at Dunmail. They were nearly 40 mins off 24 hour pace there after losing 30 mins over Fairfield and Seat Sandal.

The ground was sodden. Or maybe that was just the bog between Grange Fell and Great Crag this morning, which wax a fine stroll in beautiful Autumnal weather. But very boggy. And yesterday's condition were a bit more wild than expected. The Borrowdale bus wasn't going up past Honister (road closed), so we walked up the road and straight up Dale Head - very windy on top with bonus rain and clag. Out to Hindscarth and Robinson, then all the way back to add High Spy, Maiden Moor and Cat Bells (which was the only busy one). Back down the valley with a pint at the Borrowdale Gates, with decor based on Slytherin common room. @Northern Exile, could you tally me up to 86/214, please? |

Thanks to those that recommended the Force cafe up by Stockghyll Force. They’ve clearly invested quite some cash in it and have done a lovely job. Recommended by me too. Insanely kind weather up here the last few days. Took in the Old Man as part of a longer round on Sunday and it was like those pics you see of Snowdon with a bit of a queue at the trig! Not the trig…. |
