little wander up to Gummer’s How this evening. Rewarded by an otter running across the path in front of me and then allowing me to take a 45s video as it bounded up the hillside.

6 weeks ago we spent a full week on Mull, partly with a guide to make sure that we got the otter spots we desired. Needn’t have bothered!

Is Wanfell a decent walk?

Wansfell Pike from Ambleside is a nice walk. You can visit the waterfalls on the way up and the climb up to the Pike is worth it for the view over Windermere. Note the Wainwright top of Wansfell is a slightly longer haul across boggy ground from the top of the Pike.

Either top can be made a loop by heading back down Nanny Lane to Troutbeck and contouring back round to Ambleside on Robin Lane.

I never went to the Wainwright as we are in an aire tonight rather than a campsite and there’s no showers.

It looked rather boggy. Steep wee pull up I thought.
