I wonder if Great Langdale's days are numbered too.

It says not 2025 but it sounds far more permanent than that 😞

I feel a little sorry for the 10 in 10ers. Whatever the "lively final-day celebration" mentioned in the post is, I can't see it being the same as having hundreds of marathon runners and their families around to support.

Can you update me to 100 Wainwrights please @Northern Exile

Ticked some of in the last few weeks, with two yesterday on a loop from Carrock Fell to Great Calva from the Peak Bagging Wainwrights book. Saw a couple of distant runners coming off High Pike ahead of me but didn't actually meet anyone until coming down Great Calva - so peaceful :-)

A recommendation here for the Cumbria Wildlife Trust podcast. The most recent episode has a lot of information about the latest project creating Skiddaw Forest

Thoroughly recommend.

MrsG has phoned me on our respective lunch breaks to say she's daydream looking on rightmove at houses in Kendal that we could afford if we sold our house - with the addition of a nice motorhome ...... we should soon be working 4 days a week here in Derbyshire .... she's planning for living in the MOHO on my parents drive for 4 nights then Kendal for the other 3 ;-)

There are worse places you could live than Kendal :)

I've always liked Kendal, used to visit my parents friends there frequently when I was a kid. You can spend hours exploring the Yards off the streets in town and still find something you didn't know was there.

Also more recently a visit isn't complete without a nip in to Pete Bland Sports...
