we're with 1 supplier I believe (hubby does it!) but have Gas CH and hob with electric oven

'cos we're Gas CH does this mean we shouldn't get such a hit as it's the electric that's pricier ?

PenW what supplier are you with? I do get a bit fed up that essentially building up credit is giving my supplier a free loan.

PenW - impressive getting 5% on your credit balance from your energy supplier.

That's quite a problem stopping you getting a smart meter. I suppose eventually we'll all have to have smart meters so they'll need to resolve problems such as yours.

Well certainly worth it for me getting a smart meter.

I turned off my little towel radiator on 28th August and my daily usage has dropped by about 30 pence a day. That equates to £110 a year at current prices, and will be £200 per year when prices increase from 1st October. I do miss having warm towels but not enough to switch it on again. I will use it in the colder months but usually when I get back from my run I'm still on Economy 7 hours so will switch it on for my morning bath and then switch it off again.

Pix - the price of gas has gone up too. The Energy Price Cap applies to electricity and gas.

Ovo Energy pay 5% interest on credit balances - for those customers with them for over 3 years.

For newer customers they pay a smaller amount, 3% I think.

However, they currently suggest that staying with your existing supplier is probably the best action at the moment.

5% is considerably better than most savings accounts. Maybe I can sign up with them -- I don't need their energy, I just want to park some money with them :-)

Yes I am with ovo and it is 5% as I’ve been with them for 3 years. It starts at 3%. You need to pay by direct debit and keep the account in credit.

We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?
