I thought the original plan was a £200 loan, repayed over 5 years at £40 a year. But that was scrapped and replaced by the £400 discount, funded by the government, with no pay back needed. Other than through general taxation. In February, the Chancellor announced all households would be given a £200 repayable discount in October to help with energy bills. That has been scrapped. The new £400 discount, which you do not have to pay back, replaces the loan. |

Good news for old rich people who don’t pay tax, anyway.

been offered a fix for my energy bills - the projected saving compared to not fixing is £18 based on my usage. (and the current standing charge/unit rate). Most of the saving seems to come from a cheaper standing charge for gas but slightly more expensive standing charge for electricity

I am being urged to: 1- fix my tariff 2- have a smart meter installed I was given the option to fill in a questionnaire as to why I don't want a smart meter and they said they'd bother me only once a year with it, as they have to. I hope they are not going to throw me out like my previous supplier! They could not install a smart meter: no signal, yet stipulated I'd have one 😡 |

Octopus is a pretty decent organisation it seems Shades. Decent deals, service and seemingly good ethics? G

I'm with Octopus by virtue of the fact that I was with Bulb when they went bust. I enjoyed one of Octopus's power ups yesterday where they give you free electricity for 2 hours and they encourage you to use as much electricity as you possibly can. So far that's the only good thing about being with Octopus. Their bills are split and come out at different times, they didn't bill me for electricity for several months because they couldn't read my smart meter, the smart meter has never been updated for the new prices but it's reading high so the actual bill is a pleasant surprise and finally their app doesn't show any electric meter readings but it does show usage which is very odd and I'm not sure if it actual usage or estimates. Good luck with your transition |

I am wfh today. Two issues. My broadband is awful. Also it’s cold and I needed heating on for an hour. I need to go to the office every day to save money.

I like being with Shell, no complaints from me. I've heard good reports about Octopus so am not concerned about the change. Bazoaxe you're up in Scotland I think 🤔 Cold up there today? That's no excuse for poor broadband though. |
