Oooh, but just spotted a cracking fix which looks to be £300 below current annual forecast and guaranteed to be £50 below the cap

The feckers. I took the deal and the email confirmation is totally different numbers. I have complained.

That's bad Bazo. Was it on a switching or comparison site? You can complain via them too, I think.

I need to switch to cheaper night tariff when sun is too weak to make exporting offset cost of night charging. :-) G

"Is he paying by standing order or manually instead of DD, maybe?"#

He was paying monthly on reciept of a bill (I think he was submitting meter readings monthly).

It all seemed fine until the July one, then some random debits appeared and then were re-credited a week or two later. Think it looks right now, but after paying the last bill (estimated), a £20 bill appeared the day later. After which my brother took and submitted a new meter reading. We've heard nothing since.

I'm leaving it for now, but am working on closing the account and switching it to someone else.

Latest bill from Octopus arrived today. In the email they say:

We're offering fixed price tariffs again, for our loyal customers only. The prices we can offer change regularly, sometimes daily, based on the latest wholesale costs

That seems to mean there are different tariffs on offer from day to day. Today's is 27p per unit vs 30p currently.

Might be worth calling by their site from time to time, in case something good turns up.

I had a letter from my provider that the rate is going down but they have estimated my consumption has gone up so I will actually pay more 🙄🙄🙄

Another email from Octopus about new slightly lower tariffs. And that they're increasing my DD by nearly 50% from £30 to £43. Meanwhile I'm £580 in credit and their estimate for my annual bill is £590.

I've told them to leave the DD as it is, if they would be so kind.

Their estimates for me have always been wildly over the top. I suspect they don't take account of the solar panels (I was £3 in profit in the last billing month).

Same here. I have no solar panels but a tiny home and I am frugal and live alone...

Octopus have told me my unit cost drops by 8% but my direct debit must go up by 45%

Make sense of that if you can

Sounds like we are all in the same boat!
