Here's some stats from ZapMap, as of June 2024. 34829 locations 64775 devices 97305 connectors A year-on-year increase of 20 367 devices, or 46%. The majority of devices however (and the majority being added) are slow chargers. Here's the source, and the related articles at the bottom are worth a look as well zap-map.com In 2023, there were 8353 petrol station sites operational or under development in the UK, according to Statista, a drop of over 36% since 2000. Though as @HappyTimes stated, the decrease is due to site consolidation, rather than falling demand. |

A big chunk of the slow charger expansion is "lamp post" and similar urban on street / overnight options in some of the built up areas of London.

I’ve just worked out that the “Thanks very much for your enquiry, we’ll have a read through and get back to you within 48h” email that I got last week was an automatic response from CPS. I had naively thought that someone had actually read my email and was going to look into why (a) my card is not working and (b) I can’t log on to the CPS website and (c) I cannot even get a password reset. But it seems that they just have no mechanism for addressing problems, and no staff reading their email. It’s just a black hole.

Stupid question, do you charge your EVs every night, or wait until the charge drops to 20%?

I only get about 20% of a charge overnight (economy 7 on a 10A cable) so tend to do it sooner than that, anything below 50% I'll probably plug it in, and obviously right up to full when there's significant upcoming use. I don't do more than 60 miles per day on a cumulative basis so even this moderate nightly charge has been completely fine for me. Was down to turtle mode when we returned from recent Scottish holiday, took a week to fill up after that but I've been using the car for 10-20 mile local trips during that time without any stress. |

I haven't let mine go below 50% before charging. But I've only charged it 4 times so far. I don't do a great deal of miles, but I'm very much "what if I decide to go somewhere tomorrow?" and I'm the same with my phone, I hate seeing a low battery.

I don't charge every night but my normal milage means I charge on average one every three nights and tend to wait until it gets to 30% or 40%. If I'm going a long drive next day I'll top up whatever. |

I was plugging in to charge every day or night, but my work now has even cheaper charging than home, so i just charge every other day at work now. G

My default is to add 30% whenever it drops below 50%, unless I'm doing a long journey when I'll get it to 100% (this is using a 7kW home charger). After 2 years and 23k miles my SOH was still 100% (MG5)
