Sad news jda.

My mum's had a set back after doing so well to recover from being almost immobile back in March to doing parkrun again recently. We were at parkrun and she had a fall and broke her shoulder.

Lots of pain and discomfort to come over the next few weeks as well as being mostly housebound while she heals.

That's a real shame Groundhog. I hope she recovers well. She might find a V shaped pillow will help her to get comfortable enough to get some sleep.

One week in and still no death certificate because no-one could agree what to put on it. However the coroner seems to have finally said they aren't going to investigate further so there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. Only the first tunnel of many to come I'm sure!

I thought I'd start a thread, as lots of us have elderly folks that we worry about/care for.

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
