Does anyone bother with 5K races anymore - i.e. ones that aren parkruns?

David Denton comes down our way too for a variety of things including the Dave Clarke 5Km held at Nonsuch park soonish! I am also regular parkrunner! BUT for club standards ask for a measured 5k so I also do the Run and Become Self transcendence 5km and others at Battersea park which are fantastic and good and flat! Plus got me a PB!

Park runs? What are these strange things you talk about??? There aren't any in Cornwall. And the ones in Devon (UK's third largest county) are right over Somerset way.

That Dave Clarke 5K thing is in fact the only other 5K I have done (twice) other than parkrun that I was mentioning in my first post.

I do a few organised 5k's. One I do with my mate every year as a tradition and the other ones are the Jogscotland summer and Christmas5k's. Other than that its parkrun or maybe a club organised one.

Do quite a few of the local 5ks. They're all organised by local clubs and usually cost about £4 to enter. Worth doing to support these clubs - especially since they enter our club races in return. Furthest I'll travel for a 5k is York though (and only that one because it's fast, flat and on a summer's evening). All the others I do are in Leeds.

Is the basic consensus that the non-parkrun 5Ks people are willing to do are mainly midweek summer evening ones?

There are the local ones ie Peterborough Series and Stevenage ones in summer. I'm getting sick of the City 5k too many idiots

Entered my first 5k series this year, 5 races from May to August in Harwich for £10
Will be the first time in a year at this distance since my very first race in May last year when I ran a 5k.

No parkruns in my area either, nearest is a 2 hour drive away!
