Some great newts everyone. My newt today was going on a course organised by the regional RDA people about autism awareness and using Makaton. I've never used Makaton before but I am going to try to extend my knowledge now and use it when I can.

Makaton was something that I found to be very useful during my teaching career. A very nice Newt, baroness.

I learned Makaton a long time ago. There's a handful of useful signs I can remember, but the one that really stuck was *turtle*. Not sure I ever had an opportunity to use that one in work though!

My three all learned a little Makaton with the scouts. The only sign I can remember, apart from *hello* is *sausages*

We found makaton great with Leaflet when he was little. In fact the sign for 'finished' was life changing - he seemed to appreciate it meant 'for now' as opposed to will never happen again, far fewer meltdowns!
