I did the Burma Road nr Aviemore today. Not the first time I’ve ridden it but first time doing the whole climb without stopping. I was riding with a different friend to normal and he wasn’t stopping….so neither was I.

I have walked from Dover to Folkestone today - haven't done since I was a teenager and today was with my Aunt (she is more like a sister as only 3 years older)

The views were stunning

Not strictly a NEWT but a newt for this year. Went to B&Q and bought some plants (sweet peas, petunias, geranium, trailing pansies (never had these before) and a bleeding heart (also new)). Planted half of them and will do the rest tomorrow.

I've done my first full hour of gardening this year. And I have lots of daffodils still opening up. Will blog, but here's a preview.

First visit to my Mum’s gravestone today. It’s a beautiful afternoon, sun out, the sound of birdsong and spitfires roaming overhead.

My dad has done a lovely job, a Celtic cross carved on the gravestone with daffodils that must have flowered a few weeks ago and tulips coming into flower.

My newt was buying hot cross buns from a traditional bakers shop - baked this morning because it is Good Friday. I know you can get them all year round in the supermarket (and elsewhere probably) but going to a 'proper' baker who bakes them just for Good Friday is a bit special and not something I have done for at least about 30 years or so!

About This Thread

Most of you know the score. Much in the bizarre way Easter has come to mean Chocolate, Lent is mainly thought of as an opportunity to Give Up Chocolate. At least until Easter. You know what I mean, 'What are you giving up for Lent?' * I say NO to this. Away with the hair shirts and the deprivation. Let's embrace change and the NEW. Spring is a time of renewal - and restoration.

Soooooo..... you don't have to take up indoor sky diving like my partner's 90 year old mot...
