Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I look forward to your continuing growing relationship with women’s cricket, Fozzy, and your comments on the team moving forwards. I’m pleased to see how much interest you have taken in it over the last few weeks after the non-engagement over that last however long I’ve been on to chat about it, I’m glad you’ve been looking into it and finding more out. Just make sure you do go and google and find about the good matches, series and players that England have as well as who turns down interviews.

Here’s to growth and rebuilding 😀 It will be exciting to see what they do from here on in 😀

Ever the dreamer and hopeful here 😀💪 Onwards!

(Some really good, rounded, sensitive, and thoughtful discussions on the last couple of Tailenders podcasts about it all 👍)

Nets sound good @fetcheveryone 😀😀😀 Good to read 😀

My youngest was at a number of England Women Development Programme U15 sessions with among other Sophie Ecklestone. Around that time youngest started playing for Notts Senior Women in the 1st division of the Women's County Championship (alongside Danni Wyatt, Jenny Gunn and for one season an unknown young Australian called Meghan Schutt). I can't remember if it was a championship or cup game, but one away game was played on a council recreation ground and Jenny had to abort her run up more than once due to a child riding their bike in front of the sightscreen.
That's what the environment was for current England players a decade ago. The upcoming generation are the first to come through a professional setup from the start of their journey (hate the phrase, but it fits ;) ). Grace Scrivens is one I'd look to bring in soon - ability, attitude, a left handed batter and potential future captain.

I’ve enjoyed seeing Lauren Bell come through. She played for a local side to me (after I had left the area). First saw her on council tv in the hundred and she looked like she might be pretty handy. I was right…

Thanks for sharing @ThorntonRunner 😀 How amazing to have played alongside them all 😀 I’ve noticed bits about Grace Scrivens - will be good to see how she gets on this season. Seen her name come up a lot in the RHF and CEC reports (usually as Central Sparks were being stuffed) plus the Hundred too. Been for a bit of a Google to find out more about her too - thank you.

Agree @NDWDave - Bell’s ‘coming of age’ was at the 2023 Women’s Ashes - we saw them lose at the ODI at the Ageas; Bell was handed the ball for the last over of the innings and she was hit for about 26 (I think?) in the last over by Georgia Wareham which lost us the match as we just couldn’t make their total despite an amazing hit by Sciver-Brunt. Bell came back from that a far stronger player.

Similar happened with Anderson near the start of his career when he was chosen to bowl the last over by Nasser instead of a more experienced bowler… was it Andy Caddick?… in Australia And look where he got to…. 😉

Rumours that Olney have a game against the MCC this year, as it’s our 150th anniversary 😀
