Wouldn't have changed the result though. They've got to take the chances and the catches and field better or do it doesn't matter who is doing the bowling! Another wicket slogging to deep mid-wicket. |

Bring back Alice Capsey as well! Plays spin and handy with the bat. I’d drop Dunkley and Bouchier. I’d also pick Charlie Dean every time. |

phal wrote: But why drop one of the best spinners in the world? Because the refusal to do an interview is symptomatic of an unhealthy attitude for a professional set up. The coach should never have let her get away with that. Discipline is just as important as on field performance As I say, pollyannaism is unhelpful I hope the discussion is made available as a podcast - it's worth a listen. |

I very much doubt Ecclestone is the first (or going to be the last) player to turn down an interview because they think a line has been crossed.

Last one of a similar magnitude was probably the Ben Duckett drink incident and he got sent home from the tour.

But I don’t understand your view on why to drop her? Surely as a professional a discussion can be had. It sounds a bit “Oh Sophie, you have been a Very Bad Girl, go and sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done you silly little thing.” Really? Is dropping someone who has made a mistake a good way of going forward in this day and age. But archaic and schoolboy to me. |

I don’t think turning an interview down can be in any way aligned to be the same and someone going out and getting hammered. We’ll have to disagree on that one. For a change 😉

Yes. It shows discipline. Happens all the time in professional sport. Sit her down for a couple of games. Show her that she is not irreplaceable. Because there's no pressure on here to perform better from other players, discipline is even more important. |
