If it was only coughers and sneezers then the asymptomatic wouldn’t be a problem. I’m not sure they are that sure

Dips my mum is convinced it's in the air as in all around us not just if you are near someone who coughs

I get why a sneeze or cough would be a greater chance of passing on, but surely breathing must contain some of the same 'stuff' from your lungs and so could be passed on, albeit presumably much lower risk and you would have to be quite close to the person to pick anything up

Didn't they also say tidal breathing - being close to someone for 15 minutes or more "sharing" the air? That would be one means for asymptomatic transfer. Also, I think asymptomatic issue is that if you *feel* well, with no fever etc you might still sneeze or cough a bit and just not really notice |

I sneeze and cough all the time. Allergies and reflux, and talking for a living.

Meanwhile in the country that started this mess off .... China has approved the use of bear bile to treat critically ill coronavirus patients. The National Health Commission has recommended the use of Tan Re Qing - an injection that contains bear bile, goat horn and herbs - to treat patients with Covid-19. But there is no evidence the mixture has any medicinal value. Bear bile, which is produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years and fetches a high price in the illegal international market. The move to approve its use has angered animal rights activists and comes just weeks after the country banned the sale of wild animals for food. |

This image may help illustrate why coughing and sneezing spreads viruses phil.cdc.gov Asymptomatic people could still spread viruses via fomites, i.e., inanimate objects that we touch, such as door handles, cash, milk cartons, post/mail etc. I am off out now for my one-a-day run. When I get back I'll see if I can write about aerosol and droplet transmission, although it may take me a while. If you can't wait ![]() |
