The 0.5s it takes you to pass someone whilst running within 2m, will not change the probability of you passing on or contracting CV19 - it will still be as near as damn it, zero.
Nor does the govt legislation say you must dive into hedgerows to avoid each other.
For the probability to be significant, you'd need to stay "close" to someone for a significant period of time (e.g. 15mins)
Unless you actually cough on someone (or they upon you) and you inhale the droplets. But this is unlikely.
Take sensible precautions, but don't be paranoid about this. Paranoia helps noone.
Therefore don't run down the middle of the road to avoid people -this is many times more dangerous. Crossing the road is statistically one of the most dangerous things we do in every day life.

Yes it’s a Scottish government thing Dvorak. We got a communication today saying they were writing to the highest risk patients and wanted them all followed up by a phone call, and did we want to do that or did we want them to do it for us.

Totally agree MsG. The rush-hour has disappeared. The traffic trailing back from Witchford Road roundabout to the first roundabout you approach coming from Cambridge to Ely has disappeared. My guess around Ely traffic is down at least 90%.

The A1 is quieter than I've even known it.
Aldi was organised and well-stocked (apart from rice and pasta).
Today was the first time I've driven out to go shopping for a week and I felt vulnerable, almost scared.
I've been very much cocooned in our little village, just walking the dog or going for a run and trying not to be a spreading link between my working menfolk* and everyone else.
Feeling pretty useless generally, which isn't helping my mood - but is not being a link or a spreader the best I think I can do?
*eldest is a medical engineer in and out of hospitals, husband works in the courts fixing heating/air con etc

Roads eerily quiet here.
I agree with everything you said rf, yet I am stepping out into or crossing the road to pass people as I know if I didn't it would make them uncomfortable/nervous/angry. Already there are a number of moans on the local Nextdoor about runners/joggers/cyclists.

Roads about the same here, still lots of people driving to the seafront green to walk their dogs!

The roads have been really quiet here but when I walked to town it was quite busy on the main road, much more than normal.
The ducking out of people’s way being stupid is what ds1 said when we went into town, but as I said to him it’s all about playing a role of a good citizen, demonstrating that you’re following the rules. Plus some people look genuinely frightened to be near others so it’s courteous to acknowledge their fears.

I don't think running past someone particularly on a breezy day is a risky activity for either of us; but to avoid them signally is a sop to any sensitivities they may have.
